Obama's Views on Christianity

President Obama grew up with a mother who was a religious skeptic and had occasional visits from a Muslim/Atheist father. He had no Christian training. In a "Christianity Today" interview he stated that he occasionally went to church just to listen in the  back seat, but not to participate.

In a Beliefnet.Com interview he recalls that he felt drawn to the message of Jesus and felt "God's Spirit beckoning him" at Jeremiah Wright's church. He submitted himself to God and was baptized. He joined the Chicago United Church of Christ. He felt his mission was to find the truth of God's word. In Rick Warren Political TV interview he said that he believed Jesus died for his sins and through His death he was redeemed. He says God is his source of strength so he does not walk alone. He prays every night and morning for forgiveness of sins, protection of his family and to be used as God's instrument.

He feels motivated to get involved in the concerns of the nation. He says God's voice is sometimes very strong and sometimes not so loud. His desire is to get his life and God's will on the same plane.
