Artificial Sweeteners

With health risks of sugar becoming better known more people are using artificial sweeteners. The three most commonly used products are saccharin in pink packets, aspartame in blue packets and sucralose - the main ingredient of splenda in yellow packets.  There are two lesser known sweeteners - one made from stevia with inulin and erythritol with fructose.

Various studies have rated these sweeteners to see which is best in taste, in sweetening foods and the cost of providing the same amount of sweetness as two spoons of sugar. Saccharin has the worst taste. The best rating went to erythritol but it is also 33 times more expensive than saccharin.

Are artificial sweeteners bad for health? Aspartame will harm people with phenylketonuria. Do they cause cancer? The National Cancer Center reports that there is no scientific evidence that this is true. Learn more about these commonly used products by logging in to www.healthyjet.com.
